Merry Christmas 2 Days Late & Snow !

We ended up getting lots of snow here in Oregon , which is very rare where we live . This is the first time in the 20 years I have lived here that we have had this much snow all at once . These first 3 pics are of a fallen tree a few hundred feet up the road from where we live . As you can see the tree narrowly missed their van and it laid most of the way across the street . It took hours for them to get it all cleaned up and they and the people in the apartments across the street from the house did not get their power back til the next morning .

The rest of these pics are taken outside of our apartment complex , I took lots of pics , but these are some of my favorites . Along with all of this snow and being unable to leave the house , my DSL modem went out last Sunday and I had to wait til yesterday for the new one to arrive . But hey I got some cards made because I could not get online . I still need to take pics of them and edit them , then I should have some cards to post in a day or so .

Upsy Daisy for a Contest

I made this card for the Challenge that Vicki at Stamped Smiles had on her blog for a blog candy contest she was having , using a sketch from the DRS Design blog . Unfortunately I did not win the contest .
I used Stampin Up's Upsy Daisy stamped with their markers and used DD glitter on the flowers , the DP is by DCWV the green is a textured CS , I also used my oval nestabilities on this card , some faux dew drops that came from Michael's and some pretty purple ribbon . I also used a Martha Stewart punch on the side of the DP but you can hardly see it .

Sparkly Pocket Silhouettes , A New Blog Look and Blog Candy Alert

I am not sure if I am entirely happy with how this card turned out , mostly because I am a bit of a perfectionist and want my cards to look a good as some of the top stampers cards do , I keep thinking it looks as if something is missing , oh well . I guess I will improve more with time . This card uses Pocket Silhouettes from SU! , DSP is also from SU! . Other Items used are : 2 different Martha Stewart border punches , Oval nestabilities , SU! photo corner punch , faux dew drops , DD glitter , ribbon , pink CS is also from SU! .
I decide to change the look of my blog again , I think I like it , hope you do too !

A Late Challenge !

Donna Baker issued a challenge on the Gina K forum on SCS at the last release to make a card with 2 layers including the card base and one ribbon and 3 embellishments all the same , this is what I came up with . I did not finish it in time to post it for the contest , I went 5 min over the time it was to be posted by so I did not post it .
I cut the card base out with my scallop rectangle nesties and the plain rectangle nesties for the white piece , I them took a black marker and went around the embossed frame to make it look like it had a layer of black behind it . I then added 3 rhinestone brads and ribbon . The main image is up on pop dots . Stamps by Inkadinkado .

Kody's Birthday Card

My youngest son Kody turned 14 on the 18th of October , he is a big fan of Hot Wheels cars and has a huge collection of them , so when I found these demensional stickers a few months ago at Dollar Tree I new I had to get them to make him a card for his birthday . Kody's dad Demitri helped me with the layout of the stickers and helped me chose the DSP to use . I used DSP from SU's Halloween Paper and Tempting Turquoise for cards base , Only Orange and Temp.Turq. were used for layering . The top piece looks layered but was too big to layer so I bordered it with Copic marker to make it look layered . I used my nestabilities to cut and emboss the white CS and use faux dewdrops (hand colored the red and green) to resemble stoplights . Kody really loved the card , he said it was awesome !

Lacyquilter Challenge

Melody over at Lilacs and Butterflies posted a challenge to make a card with lots of blue and atleast 1 butterfly , for a chance to win some blog candy , so this is what I came up with . I ran a dark blue piece of textured CS thru the cuttlebug with a Fiskars texture plate , used blue Spica glitter pen on some of the butterflies . Flowers are from an EK Success punch and have a glittered brad in the center of them . Used a butterfly corner punch in all the corners and added ribbon . Hope you like it Melody !

I know I have not posted any cards in quite some time as it has been some time since I have had the chance to stamp . Our 14 year old autistic son has been extremely challenging over the past 6 months or so , which has left me physically and emotionally drained and I guess you could say mojoless if that is a word . I have recently made some cards , about 4 of them but I need to take pics of them so I can get them posted and I am going to try to get back in the swing of making cards on a regular basis again . A New Look & Lastel's Loot !

Last week I was checking all the blogs I subscribe to and ran across Jackie's blog Just Stamp It where I found the link to The Cutest Blog on the Block , (the link is in the upper left hand corner of my blog) and that is where I found this beautiful blog template , and so easy to use , and you don't lose any of you stuff when you add it to your blog . I love it ! What do you think ?

Don't have a card quite yet but I wanted to tell you about the blog candy , so you can start entering to win it . I AM BACK !

I am done with delivering the paper now and will be stamping sometime this week , I can't wait as I have not stamped in a few months and I miss it badly . I have a bit of organizing to do this week as well . I purchased some organizer cubes that were on clearence at Michael's this last week , they normaly sold for $34.99 each and I got 7 of them for less the $75.00 , 5 of them have 3 drawers each in them and the other 2 have 9 pockets in them , they had sold out of the ones with shelves in them , darn it .
While I was shopping at Michael's this last week I picked up a goodie to give away and I think you will like it . So check back near the end of the week for a Lastel's Loot post and a card or two , maybe sooner if I am lucky enough to get some stamping done before then . An Update and Blog Candy Alert !

I have been away way too long and have not stamped in what seems like forever , and I really miss it . We have turned in our 2 week notice with the Oregonian , delivering the paper with gas prices so high just does not pay off . So after the 15th we will not be quite so busy and I should be able to to finally get some stamping done .

Handcrafted Earrings

I finally found some time to take a pic and post some earrings I made several weeks ago . Most of the beads and findings were either purchased at Michaels or Walmart . These I made for myself . Demitri's Birthday Card & Mother's Day

I finally took the time to take a pic of my sweetheart Demitri's birthday card and a few other pics . The picture certainly does not do this card justice as it looks much better IRL , even Demitri said so , he loved the card . There is no stamping on this card , I used 2 different cuttlebug embossing folders to add the texture to the main image and the background . The dark brown background paper has flecks of woodchips in it , if you look close you can see them . The main image is a piece of DP that a friend gave me , the side panel was punched with a Martha Stewart punch on both sides and then 13 brown brads added for embellishment , this is my first time using that many brads on a card . Both main image and side panel are attached with pop dots .

Above is the Mother's Day card that my oldest son Dan & his wife Heather and their son Kyler sent me for Mother's Day , almost looks hand made , I think card companies are trying to make their cards look more like hand stamped ones these days . What do you think ?

The flowers in the above pic were given to me by one of my stamping buddies that I stamp with every Tuesday , Thanks Gerri ! How sweet was that , she is such a great friend !

Flower Card

This card is made from a pattern I copied from Taylors blog a few months back when she created the pattern and posted it so everyone could download it . The green CS is DCWV textured , unsure at the moment of the maker of the DP , also used were Marvy scallop circle and SU scallop circle , the flower in the center is Heidi Grace and the white brad was colored with a Copic marker as well as the shading on the leaves and stem . A marker was used to put the doo dads on the scallop circle .

I AM CERTIFIED !

On Friday April 11th , I had the opportunity to ride to Eugene Oregon with friends Roseanne and Ilene and take the Copic Certification class with them , also there were Cambria , Nancy Morgan , Joy(Joy of Stamping) , Kim (Stampingspud from Idaho) , and a few others I don't remember the names of . It was so cool to meet these awesome gals ! It was great fun and we learned lots from Marianne of Copic . Check their website or contact Marianne (click on education or contact button) for a class near you , it is so worth it !
Now all I need to do is save some money so I can invest in some of these awesome markers . I was totally impressed with them , there is nothing else out there quite like them , I would highly recommend them !

This is a card I made for a Natural Beauty swap I was in a while back , this one is sort of similar to one I have posted here several months ago , but the layout is a quite a bit different on this one . It is made using Stampin Up's Natural Beauty set and last years in colors . It is hard to see but on the bottom and top of the card has been paper pierced .

From the Archives - About Me Page

Here is one from the archives of my computer , since I need to take some more pics and uploead them before I can post them . I made this page for a swap with a bunch of girls I used to chat with on SCS a few years ago . It is a 6x6 page and includes some of my favorite things and a little bit about me . I have my signature on this and so I covered it up with a fortune so I could get a scan of it , before I posted it on SCS a few years back .

Birthday Flower for a TOPS Pal !

Finally got my pics uploaded from my camera , so here is a birthday card I made for one of my TOPS pals . I used DCWV textured CS for the card base and the layer under the dotted paper , then used a faux flower from Dollar Tree and the scallop punch from Stampin' Up! , along with a stamp from So Many Scallops stamp set stamped with Perfect Plum .Hope you like it !
